Volunteer Opportunity: Kylee’s Kitchen
Kylee’s Kitchen is DSACO’s most popular program. The first four Fridays of each month we hold
Kylee’s Kitchen from 6-8 p.m for teens and adults with Down syndrome at our central office (521 W. Wilshire Blvd. Suite 130). Participants are buddied up with a volunteer, cook their meal, eat with their friends, enjoy socializing and then get to take home a laminated version of their recipe. The classes are meant to teach independent living skills while fostering friendships old and new.
We recruit 10 volunteers for each cooking class. Volunteers are buddied up with a participant to serve as the co-chef and help their participant complete their meal. After everyone has cooked and eaten, we enter the playroom and play a game!
Each volunteer will be tasked with helping their participant and assisting with kitchen cleaning. Volunteers commit to 2 hours, from 6-8 p.m. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or olderand if it is your first time, we ask that you come 10-15 minutes early with your Volunteer Application filled out and Video Quiz completed.
