VOLUNTEERING PROCESS and VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES 

DSACO has a consistent need for volunteers throughout the week and we love new faces!

Movie Night Childcare:

READY to hangout with kids, eat pizza, kick back and watch a movie!? Join us in having a BLAST as we allow their parents to attend a DSACO workshop! Come hungry, pizza is for EVERYONE!

DSACO Fitness Class:

DSACO has joined forces with personal trainer and strength and conditioning expert, Luke Larson, to offer fitness classes! Fitness Classes are broken down by age group and are open to participants with Down syndrome! We ask that volunteers come ready to work out, have a good time and ensure that each particpant remains safe and encouraged throughout the workout! Please bring a water bottle, hand towel, your tennis shoes and get ready to SWEAT IT OUT with your DSACO friends!

DSACO Cup Golf Tournament:

The DSACO Cup golf tournament is one of DSACO’s major annual fundraisers. Volunteers assist with set-up, registration, raffle prizes, drink stations and tear down. The DSACO Cup will take place on April 13th at The Greens Country Club. There is a shotgun start at 8 a.m. There are several volunteer shifts available.

Kylee’s Kitchen:

DSACO offers a microwave based cooking class for teens and adults with Down syndrome. The class is meant to teach and encourage independent living skills while having fun alongside new and old friends. Volunteers will be paired up one-on-one to help the participants complete the week’s recipe. This is an extremely fun and rewarding opportunity and the participants LOVE hanging out and cooking alongside their friends!

Tutoring:

DSACO has hired a Special Education teacher to prepare a lesson plan but the tutor will need several volunteers to serve as tutoring aids. Tutoring aids are not required to have a background in teaching, but rather a willing attitude and fun countenance.

Speech and Language Tutoring:

DSACO has hired a certified speech-language pathologist to prepare a lesson plan but she will need several volunteers to help her facilitate the lesson! Volunteers will serve as aids to our therapist and will work one-on-one with each child/teen who signs up! There is no prior training required for volunteers, so please do not hesitate to attend if this is your first time!

Sock Puppet Making Party!

Join us at the DSACO office and help us make SOCK PUPPETS for World Down Syndrome Day! We need volunteers on a consistent basis, so please sign up for a volunteer time slot that works for you! Please be sure to notate what time frame works for you in the comments!
