Employment Consultant (EC) – Part-Time
Organization: Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma(DSACO)
Pay Rate: $20/hour – up to 25 hours/week
Schedule: Part-time (flexible hours; primarily community/job site-based with some in-office time)
Reports To: Program Manager - Employment Services
The Employment Consultant (EC) supports individuals with disabilities in obtaining and maintaining meaningful, competitive employment.Using systematic instruction and person-centered practices, the EC teaches job tasks and workplace expectations while fostering independence, confidence, and long-term success. This role emphasizes real-world, on-site support and the development of both vocational and interpersonal skills necessary for full integration in the workplace.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site job coaching and support to individuals in community employment settings
- Utilize systematic instruction and task analysis to teach job duties and workplace routines
- Conduct vocational assessments to identify strengths, interests, and support needs
- Assist with job development, including identifying and cultivating employment opportunities
- Support individuals in building communication, social, and interpersonal workplace skills
- Advocate for appropriate workplace accommodations and natural supports
- Coordinate and provide transportation as needed for job-related activities
- Collaborate with employers, families, and support teams to ensure successful outcomes
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress notes in accordance with program requirements
- Participate in team meetings and communicate regularly with the Employment Services Coordinator
Work Environment
- Majority of time spent on-site at community job locations
- Some in-office hours for documentation, planning, and team collaboration
- Flexible schedule, which may include occasional evenings or weekends based on participant needs
- This job is not to exceed 25 hours/week without approval from the Executive Director and Program Manager
Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred
- Strong communication, teaching, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in community settings
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Commitment to inclusion and person-centered support
- Background check will be administered.
