Employment Services

The Program

The Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma (DSACO), in partnership with the Department of Rehabilitation Services (DRS), provides employment services to support individuals with Down syndrome. The goal of this program is to empower self-advocates to obtain and maintain competitive, integrated employment while building independence, confidence, and essential workplace skills.

Through this partnership, DSACO’s Employment Services Coordinator and Employment Consultant provide individualized support throughout the employment process. Services may include career exploration, job assessments, workplace readiness training, and job placement.

Once employment is obtained, DSACO staff provide both onsite and offsite support to help individuals successfully learn job tasks, understand workplace expectations, and build positive relationships with employers and coworkers. Staff also work with the individual and employer to identify and implement appropriate job accommodations to support successful task completion and increase independence on the job. These supports are designed to promote long-term job retention, independence, and overall success in the workplace.
